Good Design Award 2017

" Message from the Sky 2 " and " LUXUDEAR Takanawa " have been awarded the 2017 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Design Promotion Organization).

This is the sixth Good Design Award in total. The condominium has been entered four times so far and has won every time.

Coincidentally, " Message from the Sky 2 " will be featured on NHK WORLD TV tomorrow. The broadcast schedule is as follows:

Message from the Sky 2
"Incorporating the outside environment into a city center is extremely difficult, but this project focuses on 'light' as an external environment, and is an ambitious attempt to visualize the changing light using skylights and half mirrors, with beautiful geometry being created inside the house through clever design. We commended this home for being one in which the passage of time, weather, and the four seasons can be felt through the changing light." (Judges' Comment)
LUXUDEAR Takanawa
"This is an apartment complex for single-person residents that is expected to be used in a variety of ways, and it appears that the simple unit plans address this need. The unit plans have been carefully designed, including structural aspects such as the position of beams, and with consideration given to lines of sight from inside to outside. In addition, the one-sided corridor, which can often be dreary, has been given character by adding glass blocks to one side of the corridor and matching it with the earthen floor on the inside, while also respecting privacy. This is an excellent design." (Judges' Comment)

The two works above will be exhibited as this year's award-winning designs at "GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2017," an exhibition that brings together all the latest Good Design award winners, to be held at Tokyo Midtown from Wednesday, November 1st of this year.
