Louver
Louvered weekend home weaves a connection with nature
| Designing a weekend home that connects the sea and the mountains
Louver is a weekend home located in the hills of Tateyama, at the southernmost tip of Chiba Prefecture's Boso Peninsula.
The site is located in a location blessed with a rich natural environment, with a beautiful view of the ocean in the distance and lush green mountains behind.
| View framing guided by axis and layout
The building was planned to be oriented perpendicular to the axis from the sea to the mountains, maximizing the views in both directions.
By creating a semi-external buffer zone, the spatial composition creates a smooth continuity between the inside and outside.
| Openable louvers create a soft boundary
The louvers covering the exterior function as devices that adjust sunlight and visibility by opening and closing them, softly controlling the sense of distance from the sea and mountains.
At the same time, the louvers cast rich shadow patterns inside the room, creating a sense of the leisurely pace of time that is unique to the weekend.
