| CONCEPT

This small house facing a narrow alley is designed for a couple. It consists of four continuous u-shaped structural walls. Floors with different heights are inserted in between these walls. By placing floors in different heights, spaces with various scales are created from a limited floor area. In the designing process, we tried to form a system that can unfold in various ways. We converged the specific spaces according to site context and client’s lifestyle just after this process. This is why we named the house “Steps House” instead of using any individual name; it is a general form that has the possibility to unfold flexibly according to various lifestyles.
